Due to wear and tear it is very common for the iPhone 5 (A1248/1249) to experience charging port issues where it simply does not charge the phone.
First step is for you to see it is not your charging cable or plug or even wall socket. A simple solution is to use another wall socket / plug and cable to see if this eliminates the problem. If it does - all you need to do is replace the actual faulty part in question.
Now if it still does not work there is a good chance that it is your actual charging port on your iPhone. Another test is to jiggle it while the cable is plugged into the phone. If it occasionally says it is charging and intermittently charges then there is a good chance it's the charging port that needs replacing.
Follow the instructional video above to see how to replace the charging port. Please note when fixing your iPhone yourself this can void your warranty.
