Need a tough iPhone 6 case? Well, I’m going to tell you five differences between the Otterbox Defender and the Griffin Survivor. Now we’ve done full reviews for each one of these cases and we gave the Otterbox Defender a score of 3.4 Ehs out of 5 and the Survivor a score of 3.8.

We recommend the Survivor over the Defender any day of the week. The Griffin Survivor is the better case, it offers better protection and better access to your iPhone inside the case. Overall, it seems like Griffin is doing better with their cases because between the Survivor for the iPhone 5 and 6, Griifin’s removed the camera flaps which was a big hassle for a lot of people. I’ve even lost the camera flap on my Survivor. Watching Griffin improve the survivor is a great thing to see.

At MrEh, our reviews on based on actual usage. So we use our cases for a while until we feel comfortable reviewing them. With these cases, we’ve taken them to the gym, dropped them from 6 ft, thrown them 40 ft in the air and watched them land screen protector first. Alright, let’s get started.

1. The Griffin Survivor Offers way better protection from dust and water as nothing is really exposed. On the Defender, everything is exposed so this is important especially if you’re working in a really dusty environment.

2. The Griffin survivor allows you to access your iPhone 6 easier.
The buttons on the Defender are pretty tough to get through. They get better over time since the rubber shell get’s looser over time but that’s not a good thing because it makes your iPhone 6 feel flabby.

3. The Otterbox Defender offers better screen view ability of your iPhone 6 and that is basically the only thing that’s better than the Survivor. The Defender doesn't diffuse the screen on your iPhone 6 but the gap on the Defender is noticeable and numbs the sensitivity of the iPhone a bit.

4.The Survivor is way easier to install as all you’re doing is snapping the case together rather than packing rubber into a grove. Taking the case apart is easier with the Survivor as well.

5. If you like wearing your iPhone on your belt, the Otterbox Defender has a way better belt holster. But seriously. would you?

So those are the biggest differences between the Survivor and Defender. Again, between these two cases, we’d go with the Survivor and the best part? It’s 10 bucks cheaper than the Defender.
