Circuit employs a linear feedback switched mode voltage regulator capable of supplying steady 5V PWM to devices at low input impedances. The regulator combines linear voltage regulation and switched mode power, using the op-amp differential between load and reference voltages as feedback for 555 modulated discharge. As such, it is able to maintain a constant [pulsed] load voltage despite fluctuating generator voltages and varying input impedances. This video demonstrates the charging of a very low input impedance 5V device (iPhone). Power output of charger is approximately one tenth of the maximum drawn by an iPhone charging normally via wall plug.
