You WILL hear game audio, and maybe even other people chatting, BUT YOU CANNOT USE THE INLINE MIC TO CHAT. iPhone headphones are not the CTIA standard.

Most Android headphones are CTIA standard, and therefore you will be able to use their inline mic to chat and also hear game audio.

***EDIT*** After playing BF4 for a few hours now with the March update, I much prefer the official xbox one headset, not the S4 earbuds. The update fixed everything for me, very clear sound with lots of bass. The voice/chat mix works well on the headset. But it is good to know that I can grab most phone headsets and use them.

I test the iPhone headset and Galaxy S4 headset on the new xbox one headset adaptor.

Only the S4 headset works with both chat and game sound.
