Cellphones are some of the most abused pieces of technology in the planet. This makes it look older much earlier than it should do. Now screens are made up of glass and they aren't hard enough to resist scratches and are resilient enough to not break. So those 2 things are the ones that can exactly happen to your phone:

1. Cracked screen and
2. Scratches

Now let's talk about scratches.

If you have seen Jerryrigeverything video, you'll be well aware of this phrase

*scratches at a level 6 and leaves deeper grooves at Level 7*

Well, what he means is that most phones have screen glass that is rated at level 6 on mohe scale of hardness. So any material that is above level 6 on the hardness scale can cause scratches on your phone. This means, even though keys, coins and even most metals can't cause any damage, things sand or jewels can scratch your phone. So you go to the beach and leave your phone on the ground to take a dump, you're screwed. If you talk about broken screen, well it's simple, you're a human and you are bound to drop your phone. Drops are extremely unpredictable and on your day, maybe a drop from the 10th floor of a building might not do anything to the screen while dropping it from your lap may.

So, with all being said, there are 4 things you need to think before sticking a screen protector on your phone.

1. Your convenience: A lot of people like their phones to be raw because phones are designed for comfort and putting on an accessory just breaks the comfort
2. How careful you are: If you're like me who drop the phone 10 times a day, well, I think that was a little too much, but anyway, if your usage is rugged, you're better off installing a screen protector
3. How long you plan to use your phone: If you swap it every 6 months, there is no point installing a screen protector.

REMEMBER!

- Carefully examine your screen for even minute dust particles

- Use the dust picker (a sticker shipped) for removing dust

- If there is no dust picker, use the previous screen protector
or a cotton cloth

- Don't expose screen or unpeeled screen protector too much to the air as dust may get stuck

- If dust gets trapped between the screen and tempered glass,
you're screwed!
