Just bought an iPhone 6S and noticed electrical buzzing noise from the headphone output on highly sensitive, low impedance earphones.
Since uploading this video, I've done some more testing. Here are the earphones I own which pick up the buzzing on the iPhone 6S distinctly. They're listed with impedance and sensitivity figures as a guide.)
- Audio Technica ATH-IM02 (36 ohms, 113dB)
- Nuforce Primo 8 (38 ohms, 118dB)
- Sony MDR-7550 (16 ohms, 108dB)
- Sony XBA-C10 (24 ohms, 100dB)
- VSonic VSD3S (40 ohms, 108dB)
Note that not all of these earphones are balanced armatures. It seems like if an earphone is low impedance and quite sensitive, it might pick up the buzzing noise. But there's no consistency. For instance, I can't pick up the buzzing on the Sennheiser Amperior (18ohms, 120dB).
