As our devices get larger batteries they need more USB amperage to get things charged in a reasonable time. That's why older car chargers that only supply 500 milliamps of USB power usually can't charge something like an iPad.

This adapter from Maxboost delivers a full 2.4 amps out of its top socket (the same amount of power as the iPad's wall plug) and a lower powered 2.0 amps out of the bottom connector. Larger devices like iPads and other tablets requiring greater power will only work on the top plug, while most smartphones (including the iPhone) should charge just fine on the bottom one. It's also possible to charge two phones instead using each port.

I am curious why both ports can't supply the full 2.4 amps of power To me it would be less confusing to have both delivering the same amount of power as most devices are smart enough to only take the amount of power they're going to use. But that issue aside, this plug does deliver what it says it will.
